RPSA/AEPHAR (Rwanda Pharmaceutical Students’ Association/ Association des Etudiants en Pharmacie au Rwanda) was founded in 1999, in Butare, at the then National University of Rwanda (NUR) .
more than 2000 students of the Department of Pharmacy of NUR in Faculty of Medicine including National and International students have been part of the organisation.
Achievements and Successes
Since 2009 our programs have reached over 2000 young people, working in partnership with several organizations, including relevant government ministries and institutions.
We are proud recipients of the 2012 Rector’s Excellency Award for extraordinary efforts in HIV and TB prevention
RPSA has Chaired the African regional office within IPSF (International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation) for 2012-2013 mandate
We have been an active member in the World Health Organization TB Outreach program thus we have contributed in developing TB awareness messages on this committee spearheading the youth leadership in the Tuberculosis sector.
Rwanda Pharmaceutical Students’ Association is the leading national advocacy organization for Pharmaceutical students in Rwanda and is in direct relation with the National Pharmacy council and Association Rwandaise des Pharmaciens(ARPHA).
We are in direct relations with both national health institutions and humanitarian organizations partnering on our student exchange program and we receive an average of four international students per year doing their internship in Rwanda.
We are a certified health organization within the University of Rwanda and carry out community health outreach.
Acknowledged as youth engagement best practice TB and Malaria model Huye district 2011-2012
Free-blood screening and counselling for more than 800 students during a diabetes awareness Campaign. Also organized a ‘sweat over sweet’ marathon in Huye,November 2014
Chairing the African Regional Office within IPSF (International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation) for 2015-2016 Mandate
Awarded as the best IPSF association in the African region in the world congress held in India in 2015.<l/li>
